My paintings come from observing and experiencing nature as well as from images that resonate in the painting process.
I use images I am drawn to as a starting point. I work with what I see as well as what arises from within. I go through several stages of establishing structure, allowing chaos to develop and then reestablishing structure. Getting each painting to a place where I can accept it is often a struggle, both with the paint’s construction and with understanding what I am doing. When I allow myself the discomfort of not knowing, I allow myself to feel my way out of the painting. I eventually bring the painting to a point where I can believe in its integrity
