My current paintings are influenced by specific aspects of nature, particularly by trees and water; by the movement of, by light on, by shadows and reflections, by the power of, by fluidity, or by calming abilities.
My subject matter is derived from a place that I happen to be in when in a relaxed and open state. Many of the recent paintings are the result of many walks along the Corte Madera Creek in Marin County.
Early experiences in the Adirondacks and of the backyards of New Jersey along with my entire emotional and reflective responses to nature, to personal relationships and to the world at large are the ingredients in the work. The presence of memory is the ongoing spice.
